About your hosts
We welcome you to this quiet corner of North Devon where you will find it easy to relax in our lovely comfortable home.
The house is a one off design by Chris with a large irregular entrance hall leading to a spacious landing with vaulted ceiling and roof windows. He started working life as a chef, but preferred to be working in the open air and so became a builder!
After a night in one of our comfortable beds, an invigorating shower and one of Chris’s great English breakfasts with home made jam and bread (view the breakfast menu) a visit to the unique village of Clovelly is recommended, perhaps by the footpath 20 minutes across the fields and down Wrinkleberry Lane.
There is a baby grand piano in the dining room which guests are welcome to play. Also, as Chris is one of the Churchwardens at All Saints Church Clovelly, he can arrange for visitors to play the 1889 tracker organ - especially if there is a donation to Church funds!
Both of us are active members of local churches. Sylvia being PCC Secretary for Clovelly and Woolsery, where she sings in the choir and is learning to play the piano. Chris is a tuba player with the Hartland Town Band and occasional organist for Clovelly Church.
The village has numerous organisations with which they are involved. Sylvia with the Women's Institute and Chris acts as a Parish Councillor and member of the Parish Hall Committee.
We are keen gardeners with Sylvia looking after the flowers around the house and Chris attending a nearby allotment.
We enjoy walking and cycling and regularly use the South West Coast Path and the Tarka Trail out of Bideford.
If you are walking along the SouthWest Coast Path we will be happy to transfer your luggage to your next accommodation for a small fee.
There are many walks into Clovelly and the surrounding coast and countryside. Routes and maps are available, which we are happy for you to borrow to help with your route planning and make the most of your enjoyment of this lovely region.
We will be happy to help with your travel plans by suggesting the most picturesque and interesting routes on your way here and when you leave us, if you would like us to do so.
If you would like to make a booking or you have any questions - please contact us and we will be happy to help.
